Heathwick brings Tailgate’s Watermelon Wheat to the UK
Distributor, Heathwick, is introducing a new wheat beer for autumn – Watermelon Wheat – from experimental, small-batch American craft brewery Tailgate in Nashville, Tennessee.
At 4.9% ABV and with 20 IBUs, Watermelon Wheat is said to be a crisp and refreshing American pale wheat ale with a golden appearance and an aroma of melon. It is described has having big fruit flavours that burst onto the palate and finishes with a spicy, dry aftertaste. Heathwick suggest it pairs well with very light foods such as salads, sushi or vegetable dishes.
Watermelon Wheat follows on the heels of two previous UK launches from Tailgate this summer – Grapefruit IPA and Peanut Butter Milk Stout – also in cans.
Graham Richardson, general manager of Heathwick, comments:
“The success of our existing range from Tailgate fuelled our decision to introduce another seasonally inventive beer from the same brewery. Sales of Grapefruit IPA and Peanut Butter Milk Stout are flying and we wanted to maximise on this success by adding to the range. Watermelon Wheat is a refreshing fruity, wheat beer that is sessionable and easy-drinking and answers growing consumer demand for innovative, distinctive and high quality American craft beers.”
