Hook Norton’s Flagship IPA sets sail.
The nights may be drawing in but it’s not all doom and gloom as Hook Norton have just brewed their strong, zesty and full Flagship IPA.
Originally brewed to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar back in 2005 Hook Norton’s Flagship IPA has been a firm favourite ever since.
Flagship (5.3% ABV) is described as a strong, zesty and full flavoured, Indian Pale Ale (IPA). Its said to be very much a full bodied ale with Admiral hops giving it a fruity mouth feel with marmalade richness and a citrus explosion on the tongue. In terms of food and beer matching brewers Hook Norton recommend enjoying Flagship with a strong and mature cheddar cheese. For those who like the details, Fuggles hops are added at the start of the boil for bitterness followed by Goldings hops towards the end for aroma. Fuggles and Goldings are roughly proportioned in a 50:50 split. Finally the brewer adds the same amount of Admiral hops to the hop back.
Available in cask for a limited time only, Flagship will be making appearances on the bar at the brewery, in Hook Norton pubs across Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire, Northamptonshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire and will also be available for the free trade. If you miss it, don’t worry, it is available all year round in 500ml bottles.
