Skinner’s Penny Come Quick available in bottles – briefly
Skinner’s have released a limited amount of their seasonally brewed milk stout, Penny Come Quick this month. The Cornish milk stout is available for the first time in bottles and to drinkers outside of Cornwall.
Penny Come Quick is brewed using a combination of the brewery’s local water; whole flower Northdown hops; Mount Hood hops; pale malt; crystal malt; and chocolate malt.
Penny Come Quick (4.5% ABV) is described as being packed with deep flavours and having a smooth, creamy, body reminiscent of a higher ABV brews. Skinner’s add that is has scents of coffee and chocolate and a bitter-sweet yet slightly floral taste. The brewers recommend that, in keeping with the seasons, drinkers try it with oysters, cured meats and a decadent chocolate mousse dessert.
With this year’s ambitions to revamp and modernise the original branding of the brewery, the new design for Penny Come Quick has been individually created by one of the 8 artists chosen to rebrand the company. Cornish artist Chris Odgers has captured the spirit of the Stout with his fine ink illustration, his previous work ranges from album covers and graphic novels to large scale wall installations and commissions from private collectors.
Penny come quick is widely available during October while stocks last, and also again in the spring.
